The effects of IL-18 on perforin mediated cytolytic activity of decidual and peripheral blood lymphocytes of first trimester normal human pregnancy
Perforin expressing uterine NK cells are under complex cytokine influence. Interleukin 18 (IL-18) on a dose dependent manner up-regulates perforin expression and cytolytic activity of lymphocytes isolated from the first trimester pregnancy decidua. The addition of IL-12 increased these effects, while IL-15 and IL-10 did not have such effects. These are the first results showing the enhancement of perforin expression and NK cytolytic potential of DL under the influence of IL-18.
