Dubrovnik bridge - permanent ground anchors

The paper presents design, installation and control of permanent ground anchors as part of foundation structure for a single pylon cable-stayed bridge over the river “ Rijeka dubrovačka” near Dubrovnik. After an overview of geotechnical investigation, the authors provide a description of foundation structure beneath the pier on Split side, the pylon on Dubrovnik side and both abutments. Electrically isolated permanent ground anchors, executed for additional safety of pylon foundation, are described in detail. Field testing which includes results of electrical resistance measurement is also included. Ground anchors designed to increase the stability of the slope beneath the abutment on Dubrovnik side are only shortly described as their installation has just started in the beginning of 2001.
