Numerical modelling of geological phenomena in karst regions
This article gives an overview of geophysical methods that can be used for the investigation in karst regions. Representative geological profiles and some geomechanical parameters can be estimated on the basis of geophysical measurements. Numerical modelling was performed in order to study the subsurface processes that lead to the formation of different karst forms. The parametric study of the influence parameters like shape, dimensions and depth of the cavity on the surface phenomena has been done. The 2-dimensional finite difference code FLAC was used for numerical analyses. Preliminary results are elaborated as well as the suggestions for further improvements of numerical models.
