Excavating an Early Roman Imperial ship at Trstenik in the Gulf of Kaštela, Croatia
In April 2015 an international team of archaeologists and students, supported by the Institute of Nautical Archaeology, realized the excavation of a Roman Early Imperial ship, sunk on purpose on the site of today's Trstenik in Kaštel Sućurac near Split. The ship was filled with rocks, and used to reinforce the waterfront of a villa rustica, in the immediate vicinity of the ancient Salona. The paper presents an overview of the 2015 excavation campaign.
