Synthesis of new nitrogen heterocycles with potential antibacterial activity

Nitrogen heterocycles are a class of heterocyclic organic compounds with a wide range of biological activities. A series of nitrogen heterocycles containing long alkyl and polyalkyl chains was prepared in the form of quaternary salts. Using one-step procedure, salts with a C18H37 alkyl N-substituents and Br counter anions were prepared in overall yields of 60-90%. The procedure is convenient, mild and generally gives rise to exclusive N- alkylation. Their chemical and spectral properties were briefly discussed. Their antibacterial activity will be tested.
