Application of rotation welded joints in furniture manufacturing
The paper presents the current research into welded wooden joints and testing of welded beach dowels in wood. It proposes a design solution for hat stand by way of which joints are made using the method of rotational welding. The biggest embeded force is achieved in examples where the dowels are welded across the grain (average 3824 N). The method described is longitudinal bonding of turning elements by the welding method. This method was used for bonding of turning elements for the first time. It has the potential to produce elements of infinite length. The results point to the high strength of the joint that can be compared to the strength of glued joints.
