Sažetak
The aim of this research is to design geocomposite with enhanced sorption properties, a geocell filled with geotextile in such manner that certain amount of water can be absorbed by geotextile and released in time preventing run-off, and subsequently, erosion. For that purpose Ca-alginate, as highly absorptive fibers were manufactured, non-woven was produced and compared to commercial non-woven geotextile made of PES fibers. Sorption properties were determined through equilibrium moisture content (ASTM D2654-89a:1990) ; Water Retention Value (DIN 53814:1961) in the presence of non-ionic surfactant, liquid absorptive capacity (ISO 9073-6:2000), and ionic surfactant adsorption. The swelling was monitored during electrokinetic potential (zeta potential, ZP) measurement by the streaming potential method. Specific surface charge was determined as well.
