Heat supply in thermoplastics manufacturing
This article presents energy optimization in Nylon-6 manufacturing using flue gases heat recovery combined with solar energy. Based on industrial process input data, collected through process observing, energy consumption and process efficiency are investigated. Applying flue gases recovery with exhaust temperature 232oC in an economizer 12.45 % fuel i.e. anthracite will be saved. At the same time exhaust temperature lowering is 177.120.A part of heat for feed water preheating could be supplied by solar energy implementation. The optimization with economizer and partial solar application for selected location Croatia, Zagreb is carried out. If summer average flat plate collector area is used the solarised process with economizer shows fuel savings of 40.3%.
