Sažetak
Acoustic design of a concert hall is quite a difficult task for any acoustician, even when such a hall is designed for a single purpose. The challenge is even greater if the priority becomes to provide a design that will allow the hall to be used for various purposes that require different acoustical behaviour. The paper gives an overview of the issues and limitations in the design process of a small concert hall built for educational and commercial use. Being a multipurpose space with a volume of 2500 m3 that hosts from 200 to 300 visitors, the hall serves as a venue for various kinds of events, from cinema projections and speech-based events, over recitals, drama theatre and opera, to chamber, symphonic and organ music. To provide favourable acoustic conditions for most of these of events in a natural way, i.e. without the aid of electronic devices, various design solutions have been proposed and implemented, focused on changing the configuration of the hall, as well as its surface geometry and absorption. The finished hall was evaluated through acoustical measurements and subjectively by expert users. The results of these evaluations and the suggestions for possible improvements are presented and discussed.
