Hereditary multiple exostoses : an unusal cause of spinal cord compression : case report
We report on a 19-year-old boy with hereditary multiple exostoses (HME) who presented several months history of progressive weakness of his left hand and left lower limb. He walked unsteadily and with difficulty. MRI demonstrates an exophytic, lobulated bone mass extending from the left aspect of the C6 vertebral body, including left pedicle and left facet joint C6–C7. We report what might be a rare association of spinal cord compression in a patient with HME. The clinical symptomatology is dominated by spinal cord compression. The MRI imaging provided helpful information about the position of the mass and its relationship to the spinal cord.
