Interaction Between Some Pests and Predatory Bugs in Croatian Orchards
The aim of the research was to determine the current situation in Croatian orchards with pomefruit trees, the fauna structure of insects and mite, frequency and domination of particular species and role of predatory bugs in overall fauna. The aim of the research was to determine the dominant pests in apple orchards, and dominant pests in pear orchards and the impact of predatory bugs population on pest population. During the five-year research on insect and bug fauna in pome-fruit orchards we concluded that red spider mite (Panonychus ulmi) is the most dominant pest in apple orchards and pear psylla is the most dominant pest in pear orchards. Predatory bugs Orius sp. and Pilophorus perplexus have a very strong impact on their population in apple orchard and in pear orchards respectively. A total of 17, 782 samples of insects and mites have been sampled during the five -year research on insect and mite fauna with the method of branch beating. The bug fauna investigation of our orchards showed 24 species of bugs from seven families.
