Taguchi design of ceria nanoparticles hydrothermal synthesis
Cerium oxide (CeO2) nanoparticles plays a technologically important role due to its versatile applications as automobile exhaust catalysts, oxide ion conductor in solid oxide fuel cells, electrode materials for gas sensors, ultraviolet absorbents and glass- polishing materials. In this work CeO2 nanoparticles were synthesized by hydrothermal method with aim to understand correlation between crystallite size and various experimental parameters, such as the reaction temperature, the reaction time, concentration and the molar ratios of precursors. In order to improve the quality of material, Taguchi industrial experimental design method has been applied. The as-synthesized products were characterized by powder X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM).
