The Central Europe Regional Geodynamic Projects CERGOP
Geodynamic investigations are carried out in the Central European Region (Austria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Ukraine) using space geodetic techniques – primarily GPS. A GPS Geodynamic Network, consisting of 31 points, has been established and is used for studies of the most profound geotectonic features in the region – the Tesseyre-Tornquist Zone, the Carpathian and Sub-Alpine Orogen, the Pannonian Basin and their relations with the Alpine-Adria region. One of the main purposes is to integrate various local investigations in the area and further close collaboration among research ground in different Central European countries. The zero epoch GPS measurements were carried out in early May 1994. The second measurements took place from May 29 to June 3, 1995. The GPS observations will be repeated in 1996 and 1997. The observations of 1994 were processed by computing centres in Austria, the Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Poland and Slovenia. The results obtained by GPS will be compared with ITRF-coordinates of the stations Wettzell, Graz, Kootwijk, Matera, Metsahovi, Onsala and Zimmerwald.
