Dynamic simulation of primary energy consumption in residential building

This paper presents the mathematical model for determination of transient heat transfer through the building envelope and in the constitutive components of space heating and domestic hot water system (DHW) taking also into account a heat accumulation in all considered parts. The model enables a realistic dynamic simulation of a given space heating and DHW system in response to the current indoor temperature i.e. in dependence of a building structure and outdoor climate conditions (temperature, solar irradiation). Such integral approach allows a detailed insight of the system behavior and fine-tuned optimization of the system components and their control set up, for chosen working conditions. The example calculations were performed for family house with conventional space heating and DHW system, with a time step of 1 minute, and for a characteristic day of each month within a year. Results are compared with the quasi-steady state method and simply hourly method, both from EN ISO 13790 and with the calculation based on the standard series EN 15316. This comparison showed good agreement of building yearly primary energy consumption obtained by different methods, although some discrepancies are present in warmer part of a year.
