Influence of the Forced Convection Colling on Thermal Stresses
The mathematical model of the cooling process of the octagonal cross-section steel semiproduct was constructed on the basis of the finite element analysis technique. The presence of a temperature variation throughout the structure causes stress and deformation due to thermal contraction. Transient heat conduction analysis and thermal stress analysis were performed in order to determine the allowable rate of cooling with regard to the temperature distribution within the structure and the consequent stresses and deformations provoked by the forced convection heat transfer coefficient variation.
