The expression “invisible minorities” was originally used in a specific, relatively narrow context of sexual and gender minorities. However, as these communities have become increasingly visible while their social and legal situation is seriously discussed, it has become obvious that “invisibility” covers numerous other groups, some of them still to be “discovered”.
