Plug-in software engineering case studies
Empirical software engineering is a growing research area. Industrial experience gathered by systematic empirical software engineering case studies is extremely important for further evolution of the software engineering discipline. Scienti c theory cannot provide e ective means for software industry without fundamental understanding of the evolutionary development of complex software systems. On the other hand, fundamental understanding of real world phenomena has to be driven by observational studies in real industry environments. However, there are certain limitations in performing observational quantitate case studies in real software engineering environments, and particularly to capture the detailed knowledge of studies, to enable their replication. In this paper, we therefore propose a framework that would allow plug-in case studies for industries, aiming to overcome obstacles of engaging and wide replication of industrial empirical studies.
