Business Excellence and Quality of Tourist Events
Today, events represent a centerpiece of tourism, tourism strategy and marketing. Tourists want, need and expect that something is constantly happening during their stay in the destination of their choice, within and beyond the hotel. Events attract tourists and motivate them to select a place where they can spend pleasant holidays or to revisit a place. This paper aims to define tourist events and objectives, specify the types of events with focus on quality, specify event risks, describe operations and present an event management model, give a detailed definition of the controlling function and the indicators of business excellence of tourist events. Research results are synthesized in the conclusion. References are listed at the end of the paper. The starting point and source are modern world theory and best practices of event operations management. The purpose of the paper is to underline the need to professionalize and standardize event management in Croatia and to point out the huge impact of event management on tourism development and tourism effects.
