Learning from multinationals – Are Croatian organizations using the same HRM practices?
The paper contributes to the understanding of the influence of MNCs on the dissemination of HRM practices and the possibilities for companies in CEE area to learn from western-owned multinationals. Analyzing the CRANET 2014 data, the paper explores the differences between HRM practices used in Croatia by private-owned companies and western-owned subsidiaries. The results indicate a wide gap between the two groups in terms of applying the well-established HRM practices. Out of 73 HRM indicators assessed, 71.2% were found to be statistically significantly better in MNC subsidiaries, making a solid case for promoting learning from multinationals in CEE area.
