Management of Product Variants in System Design
Approach will be able to solve mentioned problem and it is based on known product platforms and reduction in design and maintenance costs. With him we expect to get a powerful tool to be competitive on the market (primarily in Croatia) in order to satisfy a varying range of customer needs. Also very important criterion, which must be taken in consideration, is system energy consumption. Based on optimization algorithm approach will be able to propose a satisfactorily solution of system architecture. Research is making on examples of cooling plants. To get an optimal system solution, proposed variants (with their alternatives) of each product in the system (chillers/ heat pumps, cooling towers, dry coolers, pumps, pipelines with armatures, measuring and control equipment etc.) is varying according to: size, performance, functionality and costs. After implemented evaluation analysis, approach gives us an opportunity to make changes in engineering requirements and/ or product parameters to obtain a requested solution. Pointing out the design parameters in selected products during change phase, which could increase the system performance, their efficiency, but also their robustness. System reliability is reflected in the efficient operation of the cooling plant during extreme working conditions, as well as the maximum utilization of energy during transitional periods of work (between winter and summer mode and vice. versa).
