Sažetak
Main goal in radiotherapy is to deliver dose to target volume while sparing normal tissues and nearby organs at risk. Prescribed dose is delivered to clinical target volume (CTV), and to achieve that, margin M is added to CTV to form planning target volume (PTV) which is defined as a geometrical concept PTV = CTV + M [1]. Despite of patient setup errors, PTV ensures that CTV is properly covered with prescribed isodose distribution. For patients with localized prostate cancer standard curative treatment modality is external beam radiotherapy (EBRT). To minimize setup errors during treatment, patients are immobilized with different pelvic immobilization systems. In radiotherapy of prostate cancer, most commonly used immobilization system is thermoplastic mask for pelvic area. Patient setup is verified by acquiring patient images with an available imaging system. Acquired images are then registered with images from CT simulation procedure which allows setup errors calculation. If setup errors are within tolerance range the patient is treated. This study aims to analyze variations of patient setup errors for prostate cancer with and without thermoplastic pelvic immobilization mask and to estimate the impact of immobilization on these setup errors.
