Some Tribological Properties of Involute Toothing
During designing large gear transmissions it is important to minimise energy dissipation, which depends on loading conditions, a chosen gear size, a basic profile, profile parameters and a number of teeth. An inadequate choice of these parameters can increase the energy dissipation by several times. General expressions for computation of dissipation are developed. Some design possibilities are discussed and optimal parameters recommended. Results are illustrated with an example of a large gear transmission.
