Design of Gear Pumps With Reduced Flow Fluctuation
An original modification of gear pumps with external involute spur gears with significantly reduced flow fluctuation is promoted. Usual low production cost gear pumps have small teeth number and only one sealed flank pair. The disadvantage of these pumps is the high flow fluctuation, which can cause the uncontrollable excitation of vibration and high noise level in hydraulic and lubrication systems. The proposed design provides respectable reduction of flow fluctuation by minimally increased production cost. The comparison with usual gear pumps is also presented together with the relevant theoretical background.
