Sažetak
During the lifetime of industrial floor, different objects can drop on the overlay and cause a damage. In view of this, there is a difference between repeated impact loading, when fatigue may be a problem, and one single stroke. The latter case was the subject of experimental testing program and the results will be presented in this paper. The experimental program has included specimens of polyurethane, epoxy and polymer modified cement mortar overlays on concrete slabs. Most of standardised methods are intended to test the impact resistance solely of the overlay material, and not for the whole system consisting of the concrete slab and overlay. However, the kinetic energy of the hard impact striker is partly absorbed by deformation (vibration) of the floor slab and partly by local damage. Having in mind basic principles from the standards and reviewed relevant papers, a testing method with falling mass was used and the evaluation methodology according to the ASTM D 5420 is adapted. The result is mean-failure energy (mean-impact resistance) which is the energy required to produce specified number of failures, equal to the product of the constant mass and mean-failure height. In our laboratory experiments different combinations of concrete slabs and overlays were tested as the whole systems. Due to hard missile impact, it can appear penetration, cracking, spalling or scabbing of overlay. The extent of damage depends on many factors. Besides the strengths, it is influenced by overlay modulus of elasticity, resilience, thickness, overlay bond to the concrete slab, and rigidity and strength of the concrete slab.
