Influence of specimen shape deviations on mechanical properties of limestone and similar rock
Mechanical properties of intact rock (uniaxial compressive strength, Young's modulus, Poisson's ratio), as important input parameters for rock mechanical studies in most civil/mining projects, are influenced by shape deviations of test specimens as deviations from the ideal cylinder (flatness, perpendicularity, parallelism). Models of behavior for the effects of specimens shape deviations on determining mechanical properties of limestones and similar rocks of medium strength (100-150 MPa) were established experimentally, and confirmed using both statistical and numerical analysis.
