Preoperative parenteral anxiety affects the association between the type of anesthesia and postoperative cognitive dysfunction (POCD) in children
The aim of this study was to assess whether parental preoperative anxiety affects the association between the type of anesthesia and POCD in children. The children undergoing elective tonsillectomy were randomized into 2 groups: TIVA vs sevoflurane anesthesia. At high levels of parenteral anxiety sevoflurane anesthesia was associated with high POCD.
