Medvednica fault zone (Croatia)
The Medvednica fault zone is prominent in the western margin of the Pannonian basin. The zone represents the border between different structural systems and is distinguished by the seismotectonic activity. The earthquace foci lie up to 20 km deep. Their space concentration indicates the relatioship with the reverse and normal faults. By the deep data analisys the position of different rock masses are establishment that from the geological structures in the vicinity of the Medvednica fault. New cognition on the origin of the treated zone in the Neogen and the Quarternary are achieved, as well as the stress activity and the movement of the structures in space. Significance of the zone position in relation to the central parts of the Pannonian basin and Alps and the Dinarides structures is evaluated.
