Late Jurassic lateral and vertical facies distribution: from peritidal and inner carbonate ramps to perireefal and peritidal deposits in SE Gorski Kotar (Croatia)
In the western Croatian part of the Adriatic Carbonate Platform, Late Jurassic deposits are predominantly characterized by low-energy subtidal and peritidal facies. However, in the sout-eastern part of Gorski Kotar typical peritidal limenstones are laterally equivalent to somewhat deeper lagoonal limestones from Late Oxfordian to Early Tithonian. These were deposited on a carbonate ramp into intraplatform through below fair-weather wave base, and were covered by prograding peri-reefal and reefal deposits, and sporadically by ooids bars of a beach-barrier system.
