Wideness and limitations in the conception about traditional music in Croatia during 19th and 20th century
The paper deals with different conceptions about traditional music in Croatia. At the beginning of the 19th c. there did not exist a notion like the traditional music of nowadays. The beginning of the 20th c. was marked by the establishing of a movement to promote the peasant culture. Concerning music, this caused limitations in the notion of traditional music which was bounded to the peasantry, and to old strata of music. New.widening of the conception started again in the late 1960s comprising the urban music, and later also popular music.
