The ostium of maxillary sinus as a way of surgical procedure
Natural ostium of the maxillary sinus is an opeining in the medium maxillary wall which opens inthe middle nasal meatus. Transnasal approach to ostium and sinus cavity can be difficult due to anatomic variation. Depending on the attitude, and with the desire to achieve absolute clean axillary cavity, approach through artificial antrostomy alone, or in combination with natural approach is performed. also, there are attitudes that every access to natural ostium of maxillary sinuses requires at least uncinectomy. We present three cases: antrochoanal polyp with sinus maxillary polyposis, acute fulminant invasive fungal maxillary rhinosinusitis and silent sinus syndrome. In all cases pathology of maxillary sinuses were successfully threated through naturally ostia without procedures on adjacent structure.
