TRUST as a many-layered concept in research and its possible relations to societies and individuals
Trust as a many-layered concept in research and its possible relation to societies and individuals is discussed. Special attention is paid to the notion of inter/multi/transdisciplinarity in the European context, notably the societal challenges. The necessity of addressing bioethical issues, especially on the basis of the distinction between empirical and orientational knowledge is seen as the basis for directing research results to the society and the individual. Examples from robotics used in the treatment of autism as well as research on water are provided.
