KINESIOLOGY IN EUROPE AND UNITED STATES

Kinesiology represents science of movement, regulating optimal development of motor and functional abilities by transforming them to achieve great competition results. Based on that statement, when we look at the other angle, world does not have one fully determine name, better say term for science of movement, which is comprised of health, physical education, physical activity, recreation, fitness etc. The most adequate term for the science of movement, as pointed out at the beggining, is kinesiology. But, other terms seem to be synonyms, like health and physical education in the United States of America, or sport and physical education in Europe. It would be very useful to create the term which would be recognized and standardized all over the world, from kindergartens to higher education institutions. Kinesiology, as part of social sciences, where all sciences are mutually intertwined, constitute a homogenous research area reflecting distinct and real human needs which cannot be addressed without adopting a scientific approach (Mraković, 1997). Politicians, scientists and people who are closely related for that type of field should try harder to promote and adopt one term which characterize human movement and everything strongly connected to that.
