Application of livestock manure to corn fields in comparison with commercial fertilizer application

This paper will present the results of the field trials of manure application to the corn crop, with comparison of corn yield on the field where artificail fertilizer is applied. The field trials were conducted with emphasis on replacement of the whole nutrient requirements (N, P, and K) from the commercial fertilizer to the corn plant, with nutrients sourced from livestock manure. The paper will show the analysis of swine farm manures applied to the fields and their results compared to the usage of commercial fertilizer. Application was made by a new application model of usage the injection equipment for farm manures in the mentioned region. The trial was done on one 200 ha field, divided into four plots (about 50 ha each plot), where two plots were applied with swine manure and two other plots with artificial fertilizer. Base for quantities of manure used per hectare was N content in manure and it was calculated on 200 kg of N applied per ha. Each manure sample was analyzed on total N and ammonium N, and applied based on corn requirements, as well as artificial fertilizer. Significant differences on corn yields occurred where manure was applied to the fields. With the comparison to the artificial fertilizers, application of manure resulted in 15% higher yields. The fields that were treated with commercial fertilizers have corn yield of 5.20 and 6.27 t ha-1, while the fields that were treated with manure have 7.30 and 6.60 t ha-1 of corn yield.
