Regulation of CD8 T cell response to viral infection - lessons from cytomegalovirus immunoevasins.
In this overview talk, I reviewed the impact of viral evasion of NK cells in generation and maintenance of CD8+T cells. In focus of my talk was murine CMV vector expressing NKG2D ligand Rae-1 gamma, which showed robust capacity to induce CD8 response to vectored antigen and protect vaccinated mice against challenge infection with bacteria and viruses. Part of my talk will be dealing with the question whether such CMV vector can be used as a tumor vaccine.
