Wet Cleaning
Comparison between the wet cleaning process and washing is the subject-matter of this study in which high-quality cotton materials for shirts were subject to anti-wrinkle treatment, and then processed and valuated objectively after 10 washing and wet cleaning cycles. The results obtained on both fabrics of different weaves show that wet cleaning process is able to preserve durable press finish effects, which is reflected in the extended-use-values through high wrinkle recovery angles, slight decrease in tensile properties, as opposed to washing, where these values are much higher due to more intense chemical and mechanical impact. The obtained results clearly show that cleaning in water is entirely different from washing, and in certain cases it can be used as a very successful alternative to washing.
