Infrared thermography as a method for energy absorbtion evaluation of metal foams

An overview of the application of IR thermography in the evaluation of energy absorption of aluminum foams is presented. The approach is based on middle-wave cooled InSb detectors enabling acquisitions at high frame rates, which are appropriate for evaluating high speed deformation rates.
