Connection between demand and supply of performance information – study case of Croatian Parliament and public administration
The use of the performance information is a very actual subject. There are different categories of performance information users, and this paper concentrates on the members of parliament. Building on the previous research by Van Dooren (2004), the main research question of the paper is whether there is a connection between a demand and supply of performance information in the Croatian public administration and the political system. The paper explores whether the demand for performance information by the members of the parliament equals a supply of the information the administration provides. Here, it can be expected that the higher information demand will result with its higher usage. Two hypothesis are being examined. The first one states that demand for performance information by the members of the parliament will be lower than supply of performance information by the administration, while the other asserts that demand for performance will be higher towards the classical state departments. In order to test the two hypotheses, the empirical research using the data content analysis of all parliamentary questions and answers placed in the first six month of 2015 has been conducted. The research data confirm the first hypothesis, but the second one could no be completely confirmed or rejected.
