Improvement of Belt Conveyor Capacity by Material Cross Section Optimisation

Belt conveyors are used for quick and economical transportation of large quantities of bulk material over short to medium distances, e. g. coal from a mine to a shipment point. The load capacity of a belt conveyor depends on several factors, notably the trough cross section of the conveyor belt, belt speed, material density and material angle of surcharge. The main factor influencing the capacity of belt conveyors is the trough cross section, so cross sections of commercially available troughs have been compared to optimised cross sections of matching roller layout.
