Linguistic Analysis of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages
The lexical aspect of the analysis includes obtaining data on the number of tokens and types, lexical density, readability, and provides a frequency analysis focusing on nouns, but also including other word categories: verbs, adjectives, adverbs, and function words. For the purposes of the frequency analysis, frequency tables for all lexical word categories are given, as well as those covering seven most frequent lexical words, which are analysed and interpreted in order to gain insight into the special features of language and terminology used in this field. Function word categories are analysed in order to obtain information about the relations between lexical words in the document and about grammatical definiteness of the document. The syntactic aspect of the analysis focuses on lexical and modal verbs. Lexical verbs provide insight into the types of action and state being expressed throughout the document, as well as into the tenses and voices used to express them. Modal verbs provide information on the dominant aspects of modality in the document.
