Synthesis of Bio-inspired Catalysts for Asymmetric Cyclopropanation

In recent years the bio-inspired catalysis is one of the most attractive areas of research in chemistry. The bio-inspired catalyst or artificial enzymes shows very promising outcomes in many organic transformations. Continuing our research on new and efficient bio-inspired catalytic system we have recently published reported work on asymmetric hydrogenation reaction, where we obtained good to excellent selectivity. In our present work we have focused on asymmetric cyclopropanation, because the substituted cyclopropane ring system is present in numerous biologically compounds and is also an important industrial reaction. Herein, we have designed, synthesised and characterized a new class of artificial metalo-enzyme models that will be used in the catalytic asymmetric cyclopropanation. The synthesis of the catalysts is easy, simple and cheap ; therefore it is economically viable from the industrial point of view.
