Heavy metal content in two different mushroom substrate

The aim of this paper was to compare heavy metal content in two different Champignon mushroom substrate production. The research was conducted during the four cycles of vegetation on two types of substrates based on their country of origin (Substrate A and B). In each cycle of vegetation three waves of harvest were collected. The experiment was set up in four repetitions per completely randomized block design with two factors. In each repetition two briquettes of inoculated compost with the surface of 38cm x 58cm, weighing 36 kg were used, so overall the study included 128 briquettes. The lowest amount of Fe measured in the substrate A origin was 1397, 73 mg kg-1 and the maximum amount reached was 4695, 28 mg kg- 1. In the substrate B origin lowest measured amount of Fe was 1154, 68 mg kg-1 and the highest was 2036 mg kg-1. In the substrate A lowest measured amount of Zn was 143, 3 mg kg-1 and the highest amount was 174, 63 mg kg-1. Furthermore in the substrate B lowest amount of Zn was 100, 18 mg kg-1 and the highest was 146 mg kg-1. In the substrate A lowest measured amount of Pb was 0, 62 mg kg-1, while the highest was 3, 48 mg kg-1. In the substrate B lowest measured amount of Pb was 2, 20 mg kg-1 and the highest 4, 24 mg kg-1. The amount of Cd measured in the substrate A was from 0, 11 mg kg-1 to 0, 21 mg kg-1. In the substrate B amount of Cd was from 0, 15 mg kg-1 to 0, 26 mg kg-1. The concentrations of Fe, Zn and Pb in the mushrooms from the substrate A origin increased towards the end of the production cycle while Cd concentrations did not change. In the mushrooms grown in substrate B concentration of Fe, Zn and Pb increased towards the end of production while the concentration of Cd has decreased.
