Meme as a modern culture catch phrase

The aim of this thesis is to explore the phenomenon of the Internet meme. Based on linguistic and nonlinguistic blends, Gordon Ramsey memes will be analyzed focusing on their appearance, constituent parts and what message they portray. The analysis will be conducted using Fauconnier and Turner's theory of conceptual integration (blending). On the theoretical level, the thesis will analyze how the framework of conceptual blending can work together with the incongruity-resolution model, as used in humor studies.
