SIP/WS interworking triggering gateway
The SIP/WS Interworking Triggering Gateway (SWITG) enables seamless integration of SIP and SOAP protocols. The integration of protocols allows for the possibility of activating SIP messages based on the received SOAP messages and vice-versa. This kind of integration enables applications such as Web services initiated multimedia sessions where SIP multimedia sessions are initiated based on the received SOAP message ; Sensor network integration where sensor networks that provide their functionality through SIP can be exposed as Web services ; Dial to service applications where an SOAP service is activated upon reception of a call to a specific telephone number. The SWITG applications are defined with a specialized XML language called Trigger Definition Language (TDL). TDL is a new language, designed specifically for the SWITG project. It enables definition of ‘if condition then action’ rules that guide the operation of the SWITG by defining which messages must be generated in response to received message. The SWITG exposes a TDL translator that translates the applications specified in TDL language into a set of active triggers that are dynamically inserted into the generic SIP and SOAP message- handling infrastructure.
