Proteinurija u uzorcima mladih i starih osoba iz populacije

S U M M AR Y Two samples of persons selected at random ftrom the population registers firom six regions iof Croatia were examined in 1976 and 1978. The sample examined in 1976 consisted of 602 man and 583 women aged 22-41 years and the one examined in 1978 of 345 men and 279 women aged 65-84 years. Urine samples were analysed for proteinuria by means of reagent strips (multistix). In the sample of younger persons 2.9 per cent of men and 5.5 per cent of women had a protein content in urine of 0.3 g/L or higher, while in 2.7 per cent of men and in 6.3 per cent of women this content was 0.05-0.2 g/L. In the sample of older persons 27.4 per cent of men and 30.8 per cent of women had a urinary protein concentration of 30 mg/100 ml or higher. Proteins in traces (0, 05-0, 2 g/L) were found in 2.2 per cent of men only. There was no significant difference in the prevalence of proteinuria between different regions. In both groups examined an association betvveen the finding of proteinuria and the clinical diagnosis of pyelonephritis and cystitis was observed. In younger persons there was no relationship between proteinuria and arterial hypertension, but in the elderly proteinuria was slightly more often associated with arterial hypertension accompanied with left ventricular hypertrophy and myocardial ischaemia. The finding of proteinuria was also slightly more frequent among smokers and those using analgetics. There was no correlation between proteinuria and tonsillar hypertrophy. The results are presented in four tables. The importance of proteinuria findings in elderly people is emphasized.
