Building a new system of values - a prerequisite for Croatia to exit the economic crisis
Today Croatia, being the youngest member of the European Union, is faced with a difficult economic situation, which is enveloped with the fear of bankruptcy. One of the causes of the perennial crisis can be seen in the current distorted general values of the Croatian society. The current system of social values was formed in the early 90s of the last century, during the struggle for ndependence and territorial integrity of the country and the start of building the institutional legislative foundations of the young state. However, 20 years later, Croatia, bound by systematic corruption1, political clientelism2, and the continuing conflict of interest of members of the political elite, is at a new beginning. The author of this article identifies the main cause of the current crisis of social values in the current mode of functioning of the political system and its holders. The political system in its manner of functioning is the main generator of corruption 3 , which has long outgrown the framework of random phenomena, and became a widely accepted way of how Croatian society4 functiones.
