Torque Characteristics of Switched-Reluctance and Squirrel Cage Induction Motors
Controlled electric motor drives with switched-reluctance motors compete in certain application fields more and more successfully with squirrel cage induction motor drives. Basic electromagnetic calculations for switching-reluctance and squirrel cage induction motors with equal frames are presented in the paper. Results of calculations and measurements of induction motor characteristics refer to the motor of 1, 5 kW, 380 V, 1391 r/min, from quantity production of KONČAR, Zagreb. More exact (and improved) calculations of flux linkages, currents and torque characteristics have been applied to both motors.
