Pearson-type I Distribution Function for Polydisperse Polymer Systems. Molecular Mass Distribution
An attractive feature of the distribution function, which uses a relatively simple expression for approximating probability density, is presented. The Pearson-type I distribution function is used to represent the molecular mass distribution (MMD) function for polymers for which the number average (Mn), weight average (Mw ), z-average (Mz), and z+1 average (Mz+1) values are known. Consequently, estimations of the different molecular mass averages values (i.e. Mn, Mw, Mz and Mz+1, respectively), are performed from the experimentally determined MMD, proposing the Pearson-type I function as a model MMD function, fitting the model parameters using nonlinear regression.
