Analysis of Power Grid for a Multipurpose Vessel – Yard 507

Power grid of the vessel consists of two 690 V busbars (MSB-PS and MSB-SB) and two 440 V busbars (ASB-PS and ASB-SB) which are connected via two transformers. Total installed power in synchronous generators is 13, 2 MVA and approximately 13, 5 MW of installed electrical drives. Majority of drives are driven from frequency converters and there are some of direct on-line (DOL) drives. Largest drives are ship’s propulsion induction motor drives which are fed from active front end (AFE) frequency converters. There are also numerous turn table induction machine drives which are fed from diode front end (DFE) frequency converters. Those drives, together with the synchronous generators practically define operating conditions on MSB-PS and MSB-SB busbars. There are also few relatively smaller groups of induction machine drives . The aim of this document is to analyze ship’s power grid, regarding harmonics contents on MSB and ASB. Eleven different vessel operating conditions were analyzed.
