Precarious movement: the (im)mobility of railway workers

Being constantly physically on the move, train ticket collectors, along with other railway workers, are model subjects for mobility. However, one can argue they are also immobile in multiple ways. This presentation aims at exploring the collectors' experiences of their mobile workplace, as well as their experiences of constant physical mobility in juxtaposition to a simultaneous (threatening) structural immobility, in the context of the pending, almost inevitable privatization of the railway in Croatia and the adjustments that go with it (primarily layoffs).
