Rim Thickness Influence on Maximum Fillet Stress Position of Non-Uniformly Loaded Gear Tooth
The influence of a gear rim thickness upon the position of maximum fillet stress has been investigated by means of the 3D Finite Element Method. The calculations have been performed for spur gears loaded by uniform and non-uniform load distribution along the tooth tip, by varying the rim thickness, the actual tooth facewidth and number of teeth. On the basis of the established maximum equivalent von Mises stress area in the tooth root, the variation of maximum stress position has been analysed in relation to the tooth fillet and tooth facewidth.
